I was born at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland while my dad was stationed in Washington DC.  Growing up I spent almost every summer in Auburn Alabama my mom’s hometown.  My family moved around a lot…mostly on the East coast and the South.  We moved to San Diego when my dad retired from the Military in 1974.  I only have one sibling a younger brother who died in a car accident in 2001.

In early childhood my mother taught me to cook, it was something I excelled at, and my love for cooking is with me today.   G (who you may know as Dreamer) encouraged me to start a side catering and wedding cake business, which can get busy during the wedding season.  I love planning and hosting dinner parties where I share my culinary skills with the people I love and care about.  I derive great joy in cooking an amazing meal that leave people wanting more.

G and I met in prison…let me qualify that statement.  I entered the Correctional Officer’s Training Academy in January 1994 where I met my future husband who was an instructor.  It was attraction at first site for both of us but Academy rules (no fraternization) kept us from talking on a personal level until after I graduated.  Upon graduation I went back to Southern Cal to work and G and I began a long distance relationship about 6 months after I left the Academy.  We were burning up the phone, air, and highways for about 9 months.  With average phone bills of $500 a month (pre-wide use cell phone days) we decided I would move to Sacramento and thus began our lives under one roof.  We have a blended family with 5 young adult children, 4 boys (Drew, Gregory, Matt, and Daniel) and 1 girl (Rainey).  G also recently adopted a cat (Pepper) he found at one of our rental properties. She’s alright but definitely G’s cat.

I recently completed my first triathlon where I competed with about 150 other women in a ½ mile swim, 20 mile bike ride, and 4 mile run…I’m hooked!  It was the most physically challenging thing I’ve ever done thus far but the most rewarding.  I was blown away by all the support and encouragement I received during my training and on race day, I even inspired 3 of my girlfriends, one of their husbands, my hubby, and my son, to compete with me next year.  Over the next few years I plan to complete in a ½ marathon, a marathon, and a few more triathons to prepare me to join the big boys in the elite group of Iron men.  If you’re not familiar with the Ironman Race it is a staggering 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, and a full marathon (26.3 miles) all in one day!  The race community rules are if you complete a triathlon you’re considered a Triathlete for 1 year if you complete an Ironman you’re an Ironman for life!!  Go Vik!

Finally, I’m so proud to be a part of the Buffalo Soldiers MC.  I joined as an associate on October 17, 2009 and when I got my colors, the following day I walk around all day at home with my vest on.  I have been a follower of and in relationship with Christ since 1998 and He is all about a life of service through love, grace, and compassion.  And being a follower of Christ I want to emulate His example from a heart of love and obedience.  I see that common thread in the Buffalo Soldiers mission and dedication to serving Sacramento area communities and I look forward to serving and riding along side my fellow Soldiers!!
