Calvin B. Jefferson, Jr., AKA "Red Bone", a nick-name used by my uncles and aunts on occasion years ago. Born in Philadelphia PA, raised in Sac-Town since 1961. I began riding years ago on whatever I could, mini bikes, dirt bikes, but never owned a bike until my mid-twenties. Besides the 400cc Suzuki I used for commuting for a little while, I purchased a '76 Kawasaki 900, AKA-"Widow-maker", I found out why too. After selling the bike back in '86, my interest was sparked again in '04 when Major Motion purchased a bike and joined the Soldiers.
Really, I hadn't planned to be riding (so soon at least) until taking a leisurely lunchtime stroll to Mom's house when I came across a house for rent. While looking at the house I notice a motorcycle in the backyard, it looked like it wasn't wanted so I called the number and acquired it "free of charge". In fact, the owner told me "there's some parts in the garage, take those too". I did, and about $250 later I was riding again. Ironically, the bike I acquired was another Kawasaki, a 1000cc this time, with 4-Mikuni Carbs (jetted), a 4 into 1 Kerker Header, and electronic ignition. You get to know why they called them “Super-Bikes” real fast. After riding just about in the fetal position for a few months, I purchased a Yamaha XV1700S, Road Star Midnight Silverado, a new cruiser model for 2004. That was a fast, and I’m sure a reliable bike, I loved it, but not as much as the “06” Harley Davidson Road Glide I have now. Red Beze is her name, and I can ride her sun up to sun down. Now, where else can you do that? J
Having been invited to prospect the Soldiers was an honor for me. I've enjoyed the company, especially riding with fellow Soldiers in the various benefits, parades and such. I was particularly impressed with the level of commitment the BSMC Sacramento Chapter, has to the community, with the Thanksgiving give-away, and the Christmas baskets for children in the Sacramento community.
"Lest we Forget" the many contributions, and sacrifices our Brothers, and Sisters in the armed forces who came before us gave to the toddling United States, the legacy of the Buffalo Soldiers lives on in our hearts and minds. I am proud to be associated with the BSMC Sacramento, and all of the membership across the country.
