Q. What does the term prospect mean?
“Prospect” refers to an individual who has applied for membership but is currently going
through his/her probationary period.
Q. How long is the probationary period? A Prospect may become a full member after
completing a minimum probationary period of 3 months. Prospects must ride at least 600 miles or more with
every full member. The Prospect is responsible for contacting each full member to schedule a ride in order to
accumulate the requisite miles.
Q.
How do I join? A full member in good standing must sponsor you. The Prospect must complete an
application for membership and submit it to the chapter for approval/disapproval. A prospect must be licensed for and
own an insured motorcycle that is road worthy for safely maintaining highway speeds for sustained periods of time. Upon
successful completion of the probationary period, the Prospect must be voted in by 75% of the members in good standing.
Q. Do I have to pay dues? All
Members are responsible for the timely and accurate payment of BSMC membership dues.
Q. Do I have to wear a uniform? Special events
in which BSMC participates (e.g., parades, invitational activities or runs, etc.,) require members to wear their BSMC vest,
black jeans/pants, black boots and gold shirt.
Q. How often do I have to ride with the group? Full members are
required to ride once a month during regular riding season with the club. The Ride Committee will determine dates, locations,
and times. Failure to participate in a mandatory ride is subject to fines.
Q. I have been riding a long time, how do I become a Road
Captain? All Road Captains, before they can be appointed, shall take and successfully complete the advanced safety motorcycle
class; must have demonstrated knowledge and experience of various riding circumstances, situations and conditions; must
be able to exercise good judgment; and must be safety conscious.
