My name is Carl Whiteside, also known as “C-Side”, an old citizen band radio handle that
stuck with me throughout the years.
I am a native Californian who was raised between Stockton and Sacramento, CA. My formal education from elementary
to high school was in Sacramento. I also attended Sacramento City College and Sacramento State University, where I majored
in Criminal Justice and Corrections.
In 2003, after a 31 year career with the Department of Corrections, I retired as a Correctional Captain. My life now
consists of traveling, riding motorcycles, boating and investing in real estate.
As a young man, my love for motorcycles reflects back to 1971 when I purchased a 125 CC Suzuki that I rode for approximately
two years. I then elevated to a 1973 Honda 350 CC Scrambler that I kept for approximately three years. In 1976 I took a quantum
leap into the seat of a “real” motorcycle, a Honda 750 CC Super Sport (What a Rush!) 11.7 ET in the quarter mile.
In a effort to keep pace with the evolution of motorcycles once again I traded up to a Yamaha 900 CC . I kept that bike until
having near accident at which time I laid my guns to rest and sold the bike!
During the next 20 years my passion in motorcycling laid dormant until 2002 when I decided to saddle up again to fill
the rush of kinetic energy run through my fingertips. I purchased a 2001 Yamaha Road Star 1600 with an “Old School”
flare, and a set of cobra pipes that says it loud, “I’m Black and I’m Proud”
My intention as a Buffalo Soldier is to help disseminate to the community about the rich heritage
of the Buffalo Soldiers, fostering motorcycle fellowship, and riding the wheels off my bike.
C-Side’s personal philosophy in life “If you stay ready,
you don’t have to get ready”!
