Greetings,
My name is Brenda Whiteside, aka “Holly Rock”. I got
the name Holly Rock from someone in my home state of Louisville, KY. After I
moved to California in 1982, each time I would go home to visit I would hear, “Hey Holly Rock you back in town!!” After that the name just became a Louisville thang!
When I was growing up in Louisville (early years), my family and I lived next door to two very active members
of the Screaming Eagles Motorcycle Club. I can remember my excitement when they
would take me for motorcycle rides and let me try on their riding gear. It was
love at first sight…
During the Kentucky Derby week festivities there would be bikes coming into town from all over the country;
there would be so many bikes that the local police department would section off certain blocks around the clubhouse and just
allow a good time to be held by all. Everyone would go out “clubbin”
dressed to the “nines”, but come 1-2 o’clock in the morning we would all rush home put on some jean and
head for the clubhouse and party til dawn!
That’s just a snapshot of my background with bikes; I had never really considered joining an organized
club until my husband, Carl “C-Side” Whiteside who is an avid rider joined
the Buffalo Soldiers. I was already familiar with the rich history associated
with the actual Buffalo Soldiers but this new affiliation created a renewed interest.
Knowing what those brave men (and one woman) stood for, the challenges they encountered and the obstacles they overcame
left me no other choice than to become a proud member of the Buffalo Soldier’s Sacramento Chapter Motorcycle Club.
Peace & Blessings,
Holly Rock
P.S. – Go Louisville Cardinals!!!!!!!!!!!!
